Making A Purchase

Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.

We accept card payments. If you are shopping from North America or anywhere else, place your order and your card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency.

We accept Visa and MasterCard. We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped. If you do not wish to pay online, you may send your card information via phone, fax or by post.

If you have made a mistake in your order and cannot correct it in the shopping cart, contact us and we will correct the mistake.

When confirmation of your order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.

Shipping And Handling

All prices on our website are exclusive of delivery charges which will be added to the price of the products during checkout. Delivery prices quoted are for most UK Mainland addresses.

Delivery to the outlying areas of Scotland, and Islands off the UK mainland may incur additional charges. Please contact us first if you require a quotation.

We reserve the right to dispatch orders via our nominated couriers for heavy or bulky items at no additional cost to you. Orders over 2kg in weight will be delivered by our nominated couriers.

International shipments may be subject to local import duties and taxes. These charges may be levied once goods have reached your country. Any charges for duty or other taxes are your responsibility. Please keep this in mind when completing your overseas order.

Delivery Schedule

Orders received by 3.00pm GMT are dispatched on a daily basis Monday to Friday (excluding public / bank holidays) and subject to stock and courier availability. In most cases we will normally despatch your order within 24 hours.

You should receive your order within 2-5 working days. International orders are generally received in less than 10 working days. However due to the nature of the items and the huge range of stock, some items may have to be ordered specially for customers. On the very rare occasions that delivery may take longer we will contact you first.

All UK deliveries will be despatched by Royal Mail. This method uses a tracking system and includes insurance to the value of £46.00.

For heavier items your order will be sent via our nominated courier and is dependent upon weight and value. This method uses a tracking system which includes insurance. A signature will be required on delivery.

International deliveries will be dispatched by Royal Mail International Signed For, a Recorded Delivery airmail service. This is a fast and cost effective service which means we can supply customers across most of Europe, the USA and much of the rest of the world. This method uses a tracking system which includes insurance. A signature will be required on delivery.

Our delivery charges cover the cost of delivery, packaging to the UK Mainland. Charges may vary for delivery to Northern Ireland and Scottish Highlands and other remote locations. Please contact us for further details.

You must inform us within two working days if the goods are damaged in transit so that we can make a prompt claim against the delivery company and correct the problem. Please quote your order number in all correspondence.

You agree that proof of delivery supplied by our delivery company is sufficient evidence to establish that goods have been received.

Back Orders

If Solent Cables or our suppliers are temporarily out of stock, we will notify you of this position and you should allow up to 14 days for dispatch of the goods. For delays of more than 14 days, you will have the right to cancel the order and we will refund any monies paid by you for the goods.

Should an item become unavailable due to discontinuation or long lead time, we will offer you an alternative or refund its value in full.

Tax Charges

For orders made from the UK or the European Union, 20% VAT is added. All other orders are VAT free.

Credit Card Security

We have teamed up with Santander and SagePay to process your secure credit and debit card payments. SagePay is the UK's leading independent payment service provider which processes millions of secure credit and debit card transactions for over 25,000 online and mail order businesses across the UK.

SagePay is a fully approved Level 1 payment services provider, which is the highest level of compliance and is an active member of the PCI Security Standards Council which provides the highest security standards to secure your sensitive data, so you can shop from the comfort of your home or office with complete piece of mind.

To increase the security of Internet transactions Visa and Mastercard have recently introduced 3D-Secure (like an online version of Chip and PIN). Depending on the card you have chosen to use and the retailer from whom you are purchasing, when you click Proceed you may be asked by your card issuer for further authentication.

When you checkout, you will be re-directed to a secure site which will receive your card details. Credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption (you can tell this because the padlock on the bottom of your browser will be closed). They are not held in clear text on any web site.

This system protects you, and us, as your credit card details are never received by our website and hence cannot be seen by anyone within our company or our hosting partners.

Guarantee

We're confident you'll enjoy your purchases but if for any reason you wish to return something, we'll happily exchange it or refund your money.

All products purchased from Solent Cables Limited are brand new (unless stated otherwise) and are covered by a 12 month guarantee against manufacturing defects. Our guarantee does not cover misuse or accidental damage.

In the unlikely event that you receive a faulty product please contact us and we will arrange for a replacement.

Returns Policy

Under The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 you have the right to cancel your order for any item purchased on this website. The 7 (seven) day cooling off period and the right to cancel does not apply to contracts for the following -

Services that begin before the end of the cooling off period

The supply of goods or services, the price of which is dependent on fluctuations in the financial market which cannot be controlled by the supplier

Goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised

Goods that due to their nature cannot be returned or that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly

The supply of audio or video recordings or computer software if they are unsealed by the consumer

The supply of newspapers, periodicals or magazines; or Gaming, betting or lotteries

Business-to-Business (B2B) contracts

Goods purchased from Solent Cables Limited may be returned within 7 days of receipt for a full refund * of the purchase price. Items must be unopened and in their original packaging. The buyer is responsible for return postage. We suggest you use Recorded Delivery or other trackable means, as proof of posting is not proof of delivery. We will not accept responsibility for items lost or damaged during return transit. Refunds will be processed within 14 days and are subject to the above conditions.

Any item which develops a fault within 12 months of purchase may be returned for replacement. If no replacement is available a full refund will be offered to include the original postage cost. This does not cover misuse or neglect. The buyer is responsible for return postage costs; the seller will incur return postage costs for replacement of faulty goods.

* Excludes Business-to-Business contracts. A 20% B2B restocking fee applies.

All goods remain the property of Solent Cables Limited until paid for in full. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders.
